MAC Travel Exclusive Set at World Duty Free

I've been a fan of MAC Cosmetics for as long as I can remember. The moment I bought my first product is forever etched in my memory because for me, it was the first high-end piece of makeup I ever bought with my own money. I was living in Spain at the time, I was 16 and I had gone to the main department store there, El Corte Inglés with friends. I bought the Studio Fix Powder, Lipglass Clear tube and my first lipstick, So Chaud which is still one of my favourite shades now.

The now sold out Birchbox Mother's Day box was released by the original beauty box creators last week. I managed to get my hands on one of the limited edition boxes as this was kindly sent to me, I shared a quick run down on stories but really wanted to show you want was inside a little more closely.

Three Delicious Spring Drinks to make at Home

*This is a paid partnership with Sainsbury's*

With the temperature hitting 20 degrees in some areas of the UK late February, it seems we've already had a taste of what's to come for Spring this year. Spring is one of my favourite times of year, it's just the right temperature, parks are blossoming with beautiful flowers and making plans with friends involves beer gardens and make your own cocktail parties on sun soaked terraces.

In keeping with the spirit of Spring, I've discovered three tantalizing drinks to get your taste buds going and the best bit? They're super simple to make and all the ingredients are available at Sainsbury's!

The Last Five Books I Read

I have been whizzing through my reading challenge this year and it is making such a difference to the way I feel. Reading has always been my go to when I need to switch off but as life became busier, my love of reading fell further and further down my list of things to make time for. When the start of 2019 rolled around, it seemed like the perfect time to take back my love of reading and make some time so that's exactly what I did. I'm now nineteen books down and reading more really has made a difference.

I shared a post on What I've Been Reading in January so I thought why not make this into a little mini series where I update you on the books I've read throughout the year in a variety of different posts. I get a number of messages on Instagram about what I'm reading so having a place to direct people to seemed logical.

Today's post is on the last five books I've read, one or two I've been sent, some are charity book finds and another is one I've been meaning to read for ages.

Shop Fragrance Direct for Mother's Day

*Paid partnership with Fragrance Direct - see disclaimer*

Mother's Day has always been a special occasion for my sister and I, being given the chance to spoil our mum that little bit more than we already do and on a dedicated day is something we cherish and we always try and make a big thing of it every year. It's become even more important now I'm a mum myself so the celebrations have become even more special.

I love traditional gifts such as flowers and my favourite chocolates but you can't beat something extra special like a new fragrance or the ideal skincare gift set for a pamper. I've shopped with Fragrance Direct for years and so that is exactly where I turn to whenever I want to treat someone I love to an extra special something.

Joshua's Dairy Allergy One Year On

It's been just over a year since we discovered Joshua's allergy and I thought it would be the perfect time to share how things are now and what we've learnt so far. The first only and post I have shared on his allergy is Why Our Three Month Old has Soya Milk because we had quite a number of messages and unwanted advice when we switched Joshua to SMA Wysoy. I won't go into it too much here because it's all in that first post but the guidelines are not to give soya formula for babies under six months BUT if you do your research, read enough medical studies and make an informed decision for yourself and your child, there really isn't that much of a concern to be had. You can buy it from supermarkets, it's suitable from birth and I believe if there really was severe health implications, you wouldn't be able to shop it so easily.

Also, if we were raising Joshua vegan, no one would've said shit to us.

Three Gorgeous Revlon Ultra HD Matte Shades

I've raved about Revlon lip products on my blog for yonks! I really do think they stock the best range of lip products on the high street at an amazing price so they are always my first port of call. The matte lip balms are my fave but I also have a strong love for the Revlon Ultra HD Matte lip shades.

Matte formula? Me? Of course I'm a fan!

There are two formulas available, metallic matte and matte. I have tried the metallic ones in the past and although I like them, I like a really matte finish more so I've added some more of those to the ol' lip drawer.

The Full Monty Mayflower Theatre

I've been a firm fan of The Full Monty for years, it's one of my favourite films and is always guaranteed to make me laugh so when I discovered there was going to be a theatre production, I was ready and waiting in the wings! The Full Monty stage play swings into Southampton this week and I headed to Mayflower Theatre for an evening full of laughs and um... other things with my bestest for a Galentine's date.

The Indie Brands to Watch at Birchbox

I've been an avid Birchbox fan for years, five years now to be exact. I've had a monthly subscription box for that entire time and as I've worked with Birchbox for a number of years I also get to see what else the brand has to offer. This has opened my eyes to so many products I may not have come across otherwise which is why I hope you love this post because if there's one thing to pay attention to when it comes to beauty brands, it's the independents and being able to buy them all at Birchbox makes shopping them even easier for you.

The Mavala Legend Collection

Lipsticks are my jam and have been for as long as I can remember. Watching my mum apply her hot pink Christian Dior lipstick when I was a young girl is up there with some of my fondest memories growing up and it's definitely had an influence on the way I view and buy my own makeup and lipsticks now. I'm a matte finish gal through and through but I do occasionally go over to the creamier side of things if the formula is right.

Mavala is a brand I've used on my nails for years, their top coat is hands down the best one I've ever tried but I only recently discovered a whole world of other products, including the Mavala Legend Collection featuring six gorgeous shades.

*Paid partnership with Aviva Community Fund*

Supporting schemes that help enrich our local community is something that's close to my heart and it is a real privilege to be able to support this year’s Aviva Community Fund. The Aviva Community Fund is a brilliant initiative which helps build stronger and more resilient communities across the United Kingdom. It helps fund a variety of groups offering funding from up to £1,000 to £25,000; this can make such a huge difference to those in desperate need of some help.

That Wondrous First Year

*This is a paid partnership with SMA® Nutrition - please see disclaimer*

Babies are fascinating aren't they?

Before falling pregnant, I hadn't given it much thought, sure babies are cute and all but that was as much thought I'd given to it until I was growing my own.

From the minute I fell pregnant I was researching what was happening each week, comparing his size to various fruits and animals and keeping a close eye at what would be happening next. Waiting for my weekly update was one of my favourite things especially as my bump grew more and more.

The Naked Cherry Palette

As a long term Urban Decay fan, I love when they come around with new releases especially when I get to add a new eyeshadow palette to my ever growing collection. There are never enough colours in my eyes or for my eyes in this case.

Last year saw the discontinuation of the original Naked palette as well as the Smoky but with that saw plenty of rumours about some newbies, including Naked Honey which I hope is true and the Urban Decay Naked Cherry which I've been getting to grips with since Christmas.

Using a Menstrual Cup Six Months On

Last September, I made the decision to start using a menstrual cup. I had Joshua via caesarean so I'm not that different down there but having a baby weighing down on my insides for nine months has changed things or at least I feel like they have when trying to use a tampon. I needed another option and so with environmental impact being such a big focus at the moment, it seemed logical to try a menstrual cup and and because I really didn't want to use sanitary pads.

I've shared My First Time using a Menstrual Cup & Your Menstrual Cup questions answered so far so I thought a post on using my Mooncup six months on would be a nice final post to share.

Tropic Skincare & My Newest Discoveries

Tropic Skincare is a brand I only really discovered towards the end of last year, I shared my post Three Faves from Tropic Skincare in October and had a really great response so I started to explore the brand more and found even more products that I loved, especially the Lip Fudge which I use daily. Just before Christmas I was sent the 12 Days of Tropic advent calendar, full of treats from the brand along with some hero products of theirs as well as everything I'm showing you here so I had to share my latest thoughts with you and why I think you should give Tropic Skincare a go.

Björk & Berries Swedish Skincare

For someone who didn't have a full skincare routine until five years ago, skincare has quickly become a passion of mine especially as the years tick on by. I had quite a basic skincare routine prior to my blog and discovering more about different brands and products over the years has really ignited my passion. I have some very firm favourites but I'm like magpie so when a new brand catches my eye, I can't help myself.

Björk & Berries are the latest brand to grace my beauty cupboard and it's one I've really enjoyed learning more about. The brand started in northern Sweden and its story is one of nature. Björk is the Swedish word for Birch also known as the life giving tree which is exactly what I want to hear when it comes to skincare. The basis of the skincare is clean, natural and organic with fragrances inspired by the uniqueness of Swedish nature.

What I've Been Reading

I've written about my love of reading a number of times, it's what I do to relax and take some time out so making one of my goals for this year to read more was really important to me. I have a to read pile which has been gradually increasing in numbers for the last year but now is the time to finally start making a dent in it. I set up a Good Reads account when I first bought my Kindle in 2016 but I never gave it much attention until this year.

My Most Used Products of 2018

The beginning of a new year always brings our fair share of most used products posts and I sit in wait for them, they're my favourite! If a beauty blogger has spent an entire year using the same product again and again, you know it's a good one. We are in the fortunate position that we get to try so many different products month in, month out that it can sometimes be a little hard to stick to the same products unless they really are firm favourites as another newer and (promised) better product comes along.

I've tried numerous new products throughout the last year but there are always some that stick and so I give you a handful of products that haven't left my side in 2018.

Calendar Girls The Musical

Those of you with marvelous memory may remember I went to Leeds in August with Mayflower Theatre to see the dress rehearsal of Calendar Girls as it began its tour throughout the UK. I had such a wonderful time, adored the show and I couldn't wait for it to come to Southampton.

It opened in Southampton last night and I went along to watch the show again in my home city. It's a story that I'm sure touches each of us in some way and the production is beautifully told with some laughs and all important singing.

Clarins Spring 2019

The new year doesn't just bring resolutions and new goals for the year ahead, it also brings an abundance of Spring beauty collections and the first one to fall into my hands is by one of my all time favourite brands, Clarins. January 6th saw the launch of the new collection featuring an all new eye shadow palette and a handful of other products to help you start the year flawlessly.

I've been playing around with two of the products since before Christmas so I could give you my opinion as soon as the collection was released.

A new year treat is definitely needed right?!

Hello 2019

There's a first for everything right?! Well this is the first time I've sat down and written out a new year, new me type post with goals for the year ahead. I'm not one for putting my resolutions and goals out publicly to be honest I'm not a resolution and goal type person anyway and tend to stick with what will be, will be but after a pretty crap 2018 I yearned for a new direction and change in my life.

December on Instagram

Just like that another year is over and I'm ready to share my final Instagram round up of 2018 and possibly my last. I'm undecided at the moment if I'm going to stop sharing them completely or if I'm just going to do them quarterly instead. It's a post I've always loved doing but I'm going to decide at the end of this month whether to continue them or not.

We ended 2018 in a flurry of pigs in blankets, cosy pyjamas and Christmas films despite my sadness from the months prior and the thought of spending our first Christmas without treasured loved ones we did have a wonderful month full of oh so perfect festive moments. Here's a little round up...
