World Ocean Month with REN Skincare's Atlantic Kelp & Microalgae Collection

(Features press samples - see disclaimer

June saw World Ocean Month and with that came a package from REN Skincare full of their wonderful Atlantic Kelp collection. The collection features body washes, scrubs, creams and body oils - my favourite! The Atlantic Kelp body care collection is formulated with ocean-sourced ingredients and then poured into 20% ocean-reclaimed plastic packaging.

So far REN Skincare has saved 1.5 tons of plastic removed from oceans as well as 4000kg of litter collected from our waterways with the Surfrider Foundation. Cool right?

By working together, we can protect and restore our oceans for future generations to enjoy but while we work at that, let's have a closer look at the products available within the Atlantic Kelp product line.

4 L'Oréal Color Riche Volume Intense Matte Lipsticks to try

(Features press samples - see disclaimer)

Bold lipstick is my thing, it has always been my thing - hopefully, the Tik Tok reference is there somewhere either way L'Oréal have a new variation of their Color Riche lipsticks and as a matte finish loving gal, these are perfect for me.

I've been trying four of the shades over the last couple of months and so it was time to share some thoughts, especially as one, in particular, has quickly become my most reached for shade.

Color Riche is now slimmer, more longwear, more hydrating and more matte - 16 hours of wear time with hyaluronic acid and a caring formula that leaves lips feeling incredibly moisturised throughout wear time.

Croma Skincare - Here's what you need to know

(Features press sample - see disclaimer

Having two young children has taken its toll on my eye area recently, so I've been searching for the 'one' to help me combat fine lines and puffy eyes. I recently discovered Crome-Pharma, an Austrian family wonder company based in Leobendorf, north of Vienna. The company specialises in the industrial production of hyaluronic acid syringes and is one of the world's leading experts in this field.

Since selling the ophthalmic and orthopaedic business in 2014, Croma now solely focuses on minimally aesthetic medicine offering a wide range of state-of-the-art products in minimally invasive aesthetic medicine as well as skincare which is where I come in.

I've been using one of the products over the last eight weeks - Farewell Puffy Eyes and I've been so intrigued to see how it would perform especially as it has a pretty hefty price tag.

The intoxicating story of Lumière Dorée by Miller Harris

(Features press samples - see disclaimer)

Miller Harris has been on my radar for a while but it was a brand I just hadn't got to yet - I'm a perfume junkie and don't have a signature scent as such as I tend to change what I wear each season but this has found it's way in easily.

If you're unfamiliar with the fragrance brand, Miller Harris is a couture British fragrance house, founded in 2000, with a spirit of bespoke fragrance creation at it's heart. The brand is committed to using beautiful natural materials whilst pushing creative boundaries.

The brand was founded by ground-breaking perfumer Lyn Harris - she worked with world-renowned fragrance house Robertet in France in her early career, and was one of the first female master perfumers. The aesthetic of her perfumes was inspired by stories, memories and the very finest natural ingredients which translates beautifully into each of her fragrances.

(Features press samples - see disclaimer)

Over the last few months, I've been dabbling in a few new skincare brands one of which is Skin Proud - a skincare brand that feels like a community in everything they do. Diversity and inclusion are at the core of everything they do making sure everyone is welcome, empowered and represented within the beauty industry. Skin Proud is committed to showcasing all skin tones and types, genders, body sizes, and ethnicities in all imagery advertising their products - something that is long overdue within the promotion of beauty products.

It's refreshing to see and that is just the start. Skin Proud is all about championing the skin you are in - imperfections and all. The products have been developed with you in mind - they're easy to use, 100% vegan and the packaging makes your bathroom shelf look pretty fabulous too.

I've tried a few products, but three in particular stood out to me - want to hear more?

Five Products from Nude by Nature you HAVE to try

(Features press samples - see disclaimer)

Mineral makeup brand, Nude by Nature is Australia's number one brand for cruelty-free make-up and with the brand on our shores, I've been trying out exactly what is worth your time.

Nude by Nature was created in 2008 in Sydney - born from a demand by a society that was becoming more and more conscious of their health, lifestyle and environmental choices. Skincare was becoming increasingly important, however, whilst people were trying to avoid toxins and harsh chemicals during their morning and evening skincare routine, they weren’t spending the same energy selecting the best make-up and so the brand was born.

Starting with a capsule collection of just three mineral foundations, a bronzer, a finishing veil and a make-up brush, Nude by Nature quickly became a household name and since trying a selection of their products (they've expanded their range massively in ten years) I have some thoughts.

Introducing Nursem's NEW Bodycare Range

(Features press samples - see disclaimer)

Nursem has featured a few times over the last two years on my blog, I first discovered them in 2020 and I've had a tube of their hand cream on my bedside table ever since. Excitingly, this year sees the launch of two new products - a body cream and a body wash, both of which I've been trying the last few weeks.

Nursem was founded by husband and wife team Jonny and Antonia, a paediatric nurse - who knows first-hand just how much hands go through with constant washing while looking after patients. Nursem is a passionately advocated brand, loved by nurses, mums and many more. They're on a mission to make sure that every nurse and midwife in the country gets Nursem for free and at the same time help all other hard-working hands in need.

The new body collection launched recently and so having used it for the last few weeks it's time I give a little rundown and share my thoughts.

Five Happy Things // May 2022

I feel as though we've blinked and May was over, what happened?! For us, it was a super exciting month full of plans, birthdays and days out - we had a lot of fun, made lots of memories and really made the most of being able to live again.

The weather could've been better, and while we have had some sunny days it has been a lot wetter than the last couple of years; I'm desperate to set up the bigger paddling pool in the garden and have a few fun days with the little ones.

I'll be praying for sunshine and blue skies for June but in the meantime let's take a little look back on last month.

Three Pixi Face Masks to add to your Bathroom Shelf

(Features press samples & affiliate links - see disclaimer)

Face masks are my skincare go-to whenever I want ten minutes on my own in the evening, sometimes I apply them while I'm bathing the children and I have quite the collection. Over the last year, I've added a number of newbies to my bathroom shelf including three from Pixi Beauty.

Now... you only need to search Pixi Beauty to see just how much I've tried over the years so it was about time I added this little review to the mix.

There are three mask tubs to choose from, each for a specific skincare concern - what one will you try?

The Bok Shop // Southampton

(Press visit for the purpose of review - see disclaimer)

If there's one thing (I mean there's lots but stick with me...) that Southampton is great for it's the foodie scene and oh has it just stepped up a notch with the addition of The Bok Shop, now found at West Quay. The Bok Shop is known for its fried chicken and vegan chikn so much so that they've won a few awards along the way.

Founded in Brighton, 2017 by friends Jamie and Howard, The Bok Shop is inspired by London style fried chicken culture, the menu is a balance of contemporary and nostalgic street-style food, cooked with fresh and homemade ingredients.

With influences from Asia, Southern United States and London, they've collaborated with published chef Adam O’Shepherd to offer a classic chicken shop menu with a ‘Bok Shop’ twist. Southampton will also see the first-ever fried chicken and sneaker shop as they collaborate with Offgrid Ldn with a sneaker pop-up store.

Beauty Solutions, new from Latest in Beauty

(Features press samples & affiliate links - see disclaimer)

I'm a big ol' fan of Latest in Beauty so discovering their all-new Beauty Solutions was music to my beauty-loving ears. It was created to make skincare simple - providing you with a recommended set of products for a simple and effective routine to tackle the issue you're most concerned about. For each solution, they'll also provide information and tips as well as an overview of what could be causing it and how to soothe or rectify it.

At the moment, there are three beauty solutions to choose from - two skincare and one haircare. As I get older and start to notice fine lines around my eyes, I thought the Look of Lines & Wrinkles (£60.00) would be best suited to me.

Shall we take a look inside?

Five Happy Things // April

After March was spent isolated with Covid, April was our catch up month and oh boy did we fit in plenty. We've had days out, fun with family, trips up to London and an Easter full of fun with the little ones. We also found out our son's school place as he starts in September and he received the place we wanted so it has been a good month all round.

Compared to last month it has been hard to just choose five things as we had so many to pick from but I've whittled it down so here are five happy things from April.

The surprising way a TonieBox can help if your children suffer with nightmares

(Features press samples & affiliate links - see disclaimer)

One of the first things we ever bought our son when we found out I was pregnant was a book - Each Peach, Pear Plum to be exact so books and reading were always going to be very present in our lives. I'm a huge book worm and recently found myself reaching for audiobooks more and more so the idea of a TonieBox came quite naturally for us.

The TonieBox is a really cool way for children to listen to audiobooks - it works by placing audio figurines aka Tonies on top of the box where they'll then play the chosen audio. Children can then sit back and listen or have it in the background while they play. There's a huge variety of Tonies available including Paw Patrol, Thomas the Tank Engine and Disney. Thomas the Tank Engine has been a huge hit for our train-loving little boy.

The TonieBox also comes in a variety of colours making it a great and colourful addition to any book lover's home.

Upcircle Brand Showcase with Latest in Beauty

(Features press samples & affiliate links - see disclaimer)

You only need to search 'Latest in Beauty' on this blog to see how much I adore them, they're one of the best beauty boxes around and so their first brand showcase was hotly anticipated. First in the hot seat is UpCircle, a brand that ticks all the boxes when it comes to sustainability, product formulation and ingredients. It's also a skincare brand I bloody love and one I've written about a number of times.

If you're unfamiliar with Upcircle, they deliver high-performance skincare with high-quality cruelty-free, vegan and organic formulas made from upcycled and by-product ingredients that they repurpose. It launched just six years ago after a conversation with a barista about how much coffee ground is sent to landfills. Fast forward to now and they upcycle more than ten other by-product ingredients from varied industries including argan, tea, date, olive and wood industries into their skincare.

It's a fascinating journey and this is such an incredible way to get to know the brand more. The Upcircle Brand Showcase (£60.00) features seven full-size beauty heroes, from cleansing and exfoliating products to treatments and serums. Worth £120, it can be yours for £60 and if you're already a LiB Pro member you'll get 15% off!

Shall we take a closer look at the products?

Three products from Dr Jackson's you must try

(Features press samples & affiliate links - see disclaimer)

Skincare is my passion so it has been great to revisit science-led cosmetics company, Dr Jackson's again over the last few months. They create sustainable, natural skincare products and organic herbal teas with a belief that beauty should be clean, safe and most importantly, effective. Their products combine meticulous research with the finest ingredients nature has to offer, protecting skin and enabling it to look its best.

The brand was launched in 2012 by way of Sub-Saharan Africa and London's Shoreditch after its founder pharmacognosist, Dr S. J. Jackson developed a particular interest in Kigelia, the “sausage tree” found in Sub-Saharan Africa. The fruit has long been revered by local tribes for its incredible medicinal properties. It was this that sparked his dream to establish a forward-thinking skincare brand based on natural remedies that have stood the test of time.

5 Things you need to know about P&O Cruises new ship Arvia

(PR Event with P&O Cruises - see disclaimer)

With P&O Cruises Iona finally sailing the Norwegian Fjords, the countdown is on for her sister ship to join the fleet later this year. Arriving in December 2022, P&O Cruises Arvia will sail from Southampton for a series of fourteen night holidays visiting popular ports in Italy, Spain and France before heading to the Caribbean sunshine. From October 2023, Arvia will then sail her first full season of Caribbean fly/cruise holidays from the home port of Barbados until the end of March 2024.

Like Iona, Arvia is another Excel Class cruise ship with even more freedom, innovation and variety than ever before and will also be powered by liquefied natural gas; which will significantly reduce carbon emissions. Responsible travel is so important as we take care of our planet.

It's a really exciting time for the cruise industry especially after being hit so hard during the pandemic so here are five things you need to know about P&O Cruises' new ship Arvia.

Introducing Virgin Voyage's Latest Ship Valiant Lady

(PR Stay for the UK Showcase - see disclaimer)

It seems no sooner had Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady arrived, Valiant Lady was hot on her bow! The launch of Virgin Voyages was hotly anticipated by many, it saw Sir Richard Branson's first step into the world of cruising, completely shaking up the cruise world as we know it. I was invited to spend a night on Virgin Voyages' Scarlet Lady back in February 2020, my last time on a cruise ship so it seemed perfect that the first ship I'd step on once the world reopened would be her sister ship, Valiant Lady.

Virgin Voyages saw a tremendous uptake in cruises as Scarlet Lady sailed out of Portsmouth last summer and it seems the opinion has finally changed after an extremely controversial start. Personally, I adored Virgin Voyages from the second I stepped on - they tore up the rule book and created something so different it seemed as though people just didn't want to accept and you know what? That's okay, if we all enjoyed the same things it would be boring right?

Virgin Voyages' first fleet will be known as the Lady Ships, a play on the term ‘your ladyship’ giving a nod to Virgin's British heritage. Scarlet Lady is the first of four Lady Ships being launched by the brand, with their third ship Resilient Lady making her debut later this year.

Five Happy Things // March '22

March has been a funny old month, it was also the month that was all change for us and then we had the rug pulled from our feet when we finally contracted covid a few weeks ago! We started off full of hope, new routines and plenty of plans - it was exciting after so long of being trapped or nervous about going out. We had events again, food reviews, saw friends and I finally stepped back on a cruise ship!

And then the four year old contracted covid at preschool...

Thankfully he wasn't too poorly - it was just the two of us at first so we stayed in isolation to protect the other two but unfortunately they also contracted it. We are just hanging on for the final member to test negative and then hopefully we'll be free. Well, until the next time which I imagine will happen at some point. I have been able to pull together some positives though so here are five happy things from March.

A Lebanese Foodie Dream in the heart of Southampton - Beity Restaurant

(Reviewed as part of a press visit - see disclaimer)

There are a lot of great things to shout out about in Southampton and the fabulous foodie scene we have is definitely one of them. Last summer, I was invited to try out Beity and completely fell in love, so much so I've been back a few more times since so it was about time I put something out there with a little more detail.

Beity Restaurant is a family-run Lebanese restaurant serving the most beautifully authentic food - found on Southampton's High Street or the more commonly known QE2 Mile, it has to be on your must-visit list.

As soon as you walk through the door the atmosphere is warm and welcoming - the word Beity means My Home in Arabic and the family behind the restaurant like to think that they're welcoming you into their home which is a lovely sentiment and something I found to be true upon each of my visits.

How to spend 6 hours in Cowes on the Isle of Wight

(Tickets & brunch provided by Red Funnel - see disclaimer for more details)

On a sunny but bitterly cold morning in March, I and a friend took a day trip to the Isle of Wight, something I haven't done in years - it seems silly now as we're so close to the island here in Southampton. From the city, Red Funnel operates multiple services throughout the day whether you're a foot passenger or taking the car. Booking through Red Funnel is easy with vehicle ferries taking just one hour or less than thirty minutes if you're travelling by their high-speed Red Jet service which is what we did.

Red Jet Ferries to the Isle of Wight depart from Red Funnel's Terminal 2 in Town Quay and as it's a first-come, first-served based service they just advise you're there in plenty of time. We thankfully had no issues getting a seat and it was a super smooth crossing to the island. We arrived at West Cowes just before 11am and had the day ahead of us to do as we pleased.

I want to share how to spend six hours in West Cowes on the Isle of Wight, we went with no plan other than where Red Funnel had booked brunch for us and we were pleasantly surprised. I can't wait to visit the island again, hopefully when it's a bit warmer!

I adore Spring for so many reasons but one, in particular, is the numerous new beauty launches and while some of what I'll be showing you today isn't brand new, it's new to me and I can't wait to share more. Being able to work from home has given me the chance to really go through what I'm using on my skin, swap out some products for some new releases and of course, give everything in this post a test run before I can give you the lowdown.

It's all skincare pieces, all of which are available to order online now.

With Mother's Day fast approaching now is the perfect time to start shopping for your loved ones - whether that is for your mother, grandmother, stepmother or someone that is just like a mum. Mother's Day can mean so much for so many people and it's wonderful to celebrate that but I find we can sometimes fall into a rut of flowers, chocolates and personalised gifts so Boots want to change that narrative and help you shop for any mum this March.

Mother's Day gifts this year are more streamlined than ever before meaning you can shop for just any mum be it the Sentimental Mums, Glam Mums, Active Mums or New Mums. There is everything you could possibly want and I've pulled together five of my favourites perfect for beauty and skincare lovers.

Five Happy Things // February

March is peeking around the corner even though we've only just had Christmas and I'm excited. March to me means blossom, the smell of Spring in the air and hopefully more sunny days and I cannot wait, I need that sunshine on my face.

February for us has been pretty busy as we prepared for Arran to go back to work after his paternity. He gets six months so it's been a completely different experience with much more support post-partum but trying to negotiate who works what and when has been hard. It's so frustrating trying to organise flexible working and childcare with businesses that preach about family support yet when it comes to it, is non-existent, it's been tough!

We are however still making the most of our small wins, little memories and happy moments where we can - they don't have to be a huge, momentous thing, they can be just about anything.

So here are five handpicked happy things from our February...

The lip shades from BITE Beauty you just have to try

(Features press samples & affiliate links - see disclaimer)

I shared in August of last year that BITE Beauty had finally found it's way to our shores and I've been religiously using the brand ever since. You can take a look at my first look here - Introducing BITE Beauty but I can tell you, it is absolutely worth the purchase and I wouldn't be without the brand in my beauty bag now!

If you're new to BITE, just like I was - lemme give you a quick background...

The brand began after a need for clean beauty that performs to their (and your) high standards. With bold, look-at-me colour and skin-loving ingredients, BITE Beauty is all about making you look and feel good with no settling necessary. Along with creating inclusive shade ranges, BITE is committed to developing formulas with super-satisfying sensorial experiences that boldly feed your senses through colour, flavour, and texture. It's quite a fascinating brand and I've really enjoyed getting to know the products.

You only have to search 'matte lips' on my blog to know just how much I love the finish so if there was ever a lipstick range that was made for me it's the BITE Beauty Power Move Soft Matte Lipsticks. The Power Move Soft Matte Lipsticks come in twenty gorgeous shades and seriously make lips look incredible.

Powered by nourishing cocoa butter to help moisturise and condition lips and tapioca pearls mixed with fatty acid waxes help create that much loved velvety matte finish, the soft matte lipsticks really are something to shout about.

I have Sugar Buns, a dusty pink, Chai, a soft taupe, Hot Tomato, a perfect matte red and Mulberry, a gorgeously rich wine shade. Matte formulas are my jam so I feel as though I can say with confidence that the formula of these is incredible. I'm gonna need that Cayenne shade!

They're super comfortable on lips, they really do last and I'm obsessed with the shades.

Hands up who loves a lip crayon? They're just so easy to whip out and use right?! The shade Cava, a fabulous dusty pink was sent to me to try last year and I've since added Leche and Negroni to my beauty drawers.

The oh so gorgeous lip crayons are supercharged with superfoods pomegranate oil and wild African mango which are both rich in antioxidants to boost, nourish and hydrate lips. In one easy swipe, you'll have unstoppable colour that feels comfortable on the lips and leaves a beautiful creamy matte finish.

Psst... there's a built-in sharpender hidden in the base so you'll have a precise tip for every application.

You can shop BITE Beauty online at Feel Unique and Boots UK as well as in selected Boots Stores. It's a brand I really urge you to check out, I adore everything about them so much.

Which shade is most you? I can't stop using Negroni at the moment!

NEW: Typology Tinted Balms

(Features press samples & affiliate links - see disclaimer)

Typology burst onto the scene in 2020 and well and truly made its mark on me. They're the ideal starting point for anyone that wants a more effective and targeted skincare routine while still being exceptionally conscious of the world around you too.

Created by Ning Li, the founder of, Typology is completely clean, genderless and 100% digital. The Paris-based skincare brand was founded with a mission to promote critical thinking in the personal care arena, intending to break the rules and demystify the complex industry. It's completely stripped back to basics in terms of ingredients and packaging allowing them to design and produce concentrated, natural products that are active, effective and sustainable without a bit of faff in sight.

It's completely refreshing and I've been completely blown away.

Having tried a number of their products which you can view in my Introducing Typology Skincare post since they launched in the UK - I've since had another of their products to try out, Tinted Balms!

Get brighter, dewier skin with Ole Henriksen

(Features press samples & affiliate links - see disclaimer)

I have a lot of love for Ole Henriksen - the brand outlook is inspiring, the zest for their products is unbeatable and having spent a virtual evening with Ole Henriksen himself last year I couldn't wait to share more.

With an effervescent optimism for life that allows you to glow from the inside out, the Ole Henriksen skincare collection is built on a product philosophy of exfoliate, treat and soothe, which originated in Ole's Beverly Hills spa helping to bring transformative results to clients all over the world.

Each product in the line from easy daily regimens to professional-strength systems combines powerful actives, natural botanicals and essential fatty acids which are then colour-coded making it super easy to decide on what range would be best for your skin.

In this post, I'll be focusing on the Ole Henriksen Truth Collection, arguably my favourite from the brand to help brighten, firm and awaken the skin.
