REN Skincare Perfect Canvas Clean Primer

When it comes to skincare, REN Clean Skincare is a brand I turn to time and time again so the new Perfect Canvas Clean Primer was high on my to-try list. Clean Skincare is at the heart of what REN do meaning incredible products created with sustainable ingredients from sustainable sources plus they're sustainably packaged too.

Do I have your attention yet?

The probiotic Clean Primer is everything I've been waiting for in a primer. Traditionally, I've always been a silicone primer girl because I thought that was what worked for my skin but all too often it just caused my makeup to slip and slide off leaving my skin looking patchy.

The Perfect Canvas Clean Primer (AD*) does things a little differently. It's designed to go after your moisturiser to aid smoother application and to help extend makeup wear time. It plumps skin, mattifies and helps fill in fine lines meaning skin smoothness is improved while skin-boosting extracts help balance good bacteria, reducing breakouts and promoting healthy microbiome all without silicones.

The silicone-free aspect is what really sold it to me and as the formula contains Agave Extract it allows the skin to breathe without the congested feeling of silicone. Makeup applies smoother, skin looks fresher and it makes for the perfect stay in place makeup base.

The light textured primer is clear in colour, I use the dropper to apply to skin and then pat in lightly. It doesn't feel sticky and it just seems to set to my skin perfectly. My foundation applies so much better when using this and just looks so much more flawless than it does when using other primers. I'm a total convert and if I'm completely honest, I wasn't sure I was going to be.

It's like nothing I've used before so I really wasn't sure what to expect but I've been more than happy with the results. It's priced at £40.00 so it's not cheap but you really don't need to use much at all so I think this is going to last me quite some time yet!

Ren Clean Skincare just keep capturing my heart at the moment and I'm totally okay with that.

  1. I'm always on the lookout for a great primer and this one sounds really interesting - I would definitely consider adding it to my collection if it wasn't so expensive!

  7. I always struggle with foundation, and I'm wondering if a good primer would help that! This sounds like exactly the thing I'd go for, as I'm not a fan of silicone in makeup or haircare if I can avoid it

  9. Ah I think they must have re-formulated/packaged their older one which I have and (fortunately!) lowered the price a bit x

  16. I really love Ren products. I've tried some of their skincare and always find it leaves my skin feeling great, but I've never tried their primer. I usually use silicone-based primers but they don't always work brilliantly on me so I like that this is silicone-free. I also really like the dropper, for some reason products always feel a bit more luxurious to me when they have one haha! I'll need to keep my eyes peeled for this as it sounds lovely.
