We're having another baby!

Big life news - we're having another baby!

Last week, we shared on social media we were expecting our second child, a little girl and we're so excited to share the news. I feel as though we've known for an eternity and we've kept the news to ourselves for quite a bit longer this time too.

I'm due in the Summer and just about to hit the halfway mark which seems crazy, it has flown by and I keep saying to Arran can you believe we're halfway already?! Imagine my shock when I have a new baby in my arms in the blink of an eye - haha.

Dr.PAWPAW Balms & Why you need to try them // Now Available at Superdrug

(Features press samples & affiliate links - see disclaimer)

Oh so familiar skincare brand, Dr.PAWPAW have some news, you can now purchase their products in Superdrug!

Created back in 2013, Dr.PAWPAW was developed by Johnny and Pauline after their daughter was diagnosed with eczema; They wanted a natural alternative to steroid prescription creams and this was their solution.

Now years later, the award-winning brand has numerous products loved by many especially as the multi-use balm can be used on lips, skin and hair from anyone to grannies and babies, to those with dry skin or suffering the effects of chemotherapy. The original balm is my personal favourite followed closely by the rich mocha balm and now with shops opening next week, it has never been easier to pick up your favourite Dr.PAWPAW products.

Five Books I Read in March + Reviews

March seemed to fly by so with a new month starting it was time to round up what I've read and share my thoughts. I've had a slower start to the year when it has come to reading so I decided to set my 2021 reading challenge at sixty books so there was a little less pressure this year. My TBR pile is never-ending and I'm a nightmare for continually adding to it so I've placed a ban on myself until I've worked through what I have at home.

I read four books in March including one I wish I hadn't wasted my time on and I finally finished my first ever audiobook so I've included that too - I can't wait to hear what you think!

The Lush Cosmetics Easter Collection 2021

(Features press samples - see disclaimer)

I love the first few months of a new year because we get new collection after new collection from Lush Cosmetics, which means any excuse for an extravagant bath! Seasonal collections at Lush Cosmetics are my favourite launches, I feel as though I use more from them than the permanent lines because I just want to try it all.

With the scent of the Mother's Day collection still in the air, this year's Easter collection landed and it's a good'un. I haven't been overly wowed the last few seasons but this year's collection has more than made up for it and I already have a couple that I'll be sad to see go.

From bath bombs and bath melts to soaps and body butters, you're bound to fall for something.

I mean it's Lush, why wouldn't you?!

3 Orchard Toys games your children will love

(Features press samples - see disclaimer)

We're a year into this staying at home thing which has meant most of our preschool learning has been done from our living room and we've relied on Orchard Toys a lot during this time. I've spoken previously about our love for the brand when finding The Best Orchard Toy Games for your Two Year Old and so with some newer editions finding their way into our favourites it seemed fitting to share an update on what we have been playing with.

We love spending time with Joshua reading, drawing and painting and discovering Orchard Toys has meant we could include more educational games and puzzles. You can search for their products by age which I've always found so helpful in the past too.

I have three of their newer products to show you that are perfect for at home or as gifts for children's parties - we've had so much fun with them recently.

Antipodes Worship Skin Defence Serum

(Features press samples & affiliate links - see disclaimer)

Antipodes is a brand that has permanently been in my beauty drawers for one reason or another. Their face masks are brilliant, the hand creams ideal for keeping skin smooth and the Kiwi Seed Oil Eye Cream is hands down the best eye cream I've ever used so I'm always game for exploring more of the brand.

If you're new to the brand lemme tell you a little more: Antipodes is a scientific green beauty company from New Zealand specialising in award-winning plant-powered vegan beauty driven by native ingredients. The companies founder and CEO Elizabeth Barbalich has a background in science and innovation and it's something I adore about the brand, especially after spending some time with them a few years ago for an intimate afternoon tea to explore the ethos, products and ingredients.

"For 15 years, Antipodes has said no to toxins in our products: we’ve never compromised on our clean formulations and sustainability has been our baseline since day one. Thanks to 100% naturally sourced ingredients, independent third-party audits of our credentials and sophisticated formulations that meet the needs of women seeking actual results from natural skincare, our products are continually elevated above this standard"

12 NEW Products from Pixi Beauty to Try

(Features press samples & affiliate links - see disclaimer)

Pixi is really spoiling us with a plethora of new launches to get excited about and boy am I thankful because I need something to get excited about while we're stuck in what feels like eternal lockdown. Over the last few months, I've had a handful of new product launches to play with and I've also spent a dreamy virtual evening with Pixi learning all about the best products to use to make sure my skin is kept fresh after all that mask-wearing - SO I've rounded up twelve of those products to showcase within this post.

It's gonna be a long one but oh so worth it!

4 Products from Evolve Beauty you need to try

(Features press samples & affiliate links - see disclaimer)

Evolve Beauty is a brand I've explored more and more over the years - I first started using their products in 2018 and the love has grown from there. It didn't take long for me to fall for Evolve Beauty, to be honest, it took just reading the About Us page on their website as the passion behind the brand came through in just a few sentences. Laura, Evolve Beauty's founder is behind the range of natural and organic skincare brand which is inspiring a better and more natural world for beauty. The products are created by a small team in a studio in Hertfordshire, lovingly made with uplifting scents, incredible ingredients and interesting textures.

I wanted to pick out four products that are always within reach for me and give you a little more information on them. You never know you might hop foot it to their website to have a nose for yourself after you've read this - here's hoping!

The Urban Decay Naked Wild West Palette

If there's one brand I always look out for when it comes to new beauty releases, it's Urban Decay and they've had some killer launches recently, one of which is the Urban Decay Naked Wild West Palette. Launched in February 2021, it's Urban Decay's first-ever vegan makeup palette and is inspired by the Californian desert - think warm dusky tones, rich terracotta browns and deep coppers plus the most gorgeous blue I've ever set my eyes on.

The Naked collection by Urban Decay is the most well-loved collection of makeup palettes available with the first three in the collection gaining cult classic status. Naked 3 is still one of my all-time favourite palettes but  some of the newer launches are definitely hot on its tail of taking the hot spot for me.

Easy to Make Dairy Free Scones

If there's one thing I love making it's scones - more often than not, all the ingredients are in your cupboard already, they take no time at all and they're delicious sweet or savoury! I make all my bakes in my Thermomix so I use a mixture of already programmed Thermomix recipes as well as my own favourites and adapt them to use in the machine. I also make everything dairy-free due to our sons dairy allergy which means there's been a lot of trial and error over the years.

This particular scone recipe is based on a BBC Good Food recipe by Jane Hornby but I've tweaked the ingredient amounts and made it dairy-free so we can all enjoy them together at home.

Beat the Maskne Blues with Image Skincare

(Features press samples & affiliate links - see disclaimer)

Wearing a face mask has become second nature to us all but with that comes a new skincare concern I'm sure none of us saw coming, Maskne. Maskne is a term used when acne breakouts happen because of wearing a mask and can occur as quickly as one day of wearing one or weeks after. There's a number of reasons this can happen from the friction of the mask against the skin to the area being much warmer than usual leading to irritation, clogged pores and breakouts.

Leading cosmeceutical skincare brand Image has a solution that will be music to your ears - the NEW Maskne Kit has been created to help you combat maskne and includes three products to maintain a clear complexion.

Five of My Latest Reads + Mini Reviews

The start of 2021 seems to have run away from me as it's March and I'm only just sitting down with a book update - my first once since November. I ended 2020 by reading 100 books, the most I've ever read in a year and I'm so proud of myself, sure the pandemic definitely played a part in all my extra time but it's still such a great reading achievement. I decided to set my 2021 reading challenge at sixty books so there was a little less pressure to work my way through them and so far I've read thirteen so not too bad, to begin with.

I've picked out five titles from what I've read so far this year to share with you and there are some brilliant books in there (even if I do say so myself!) - I can't wait to hear what you think.

Temple Spa My Kinda Skin Essentials Kit

(Features press samples & affiliate links - see disclaimer)

Over the last year, all this extra time at home has meant I've really been able to nail my skincare routine. I know what my skin needs and when it needs it and for the first time in forever it feels relatively calm and happy. When it comes to skin, it's something that can change quite quickly, I remember when I was pregnant my skin did a complete 360 and I had to change everything for it to change again once I had our son.

One thing that I've found is really helpful when you're unsure about your skin and what it needs is Temple Spa's Capsule Skincare Collection. My Kinda Skin is a clever kit that helps you choose a three-step routine depending on how your skin feels.

The trio of products have been specifically chosen by skin type and are presented in a handy bag too - I use the "Pick your Own" skin kit so I'm going to show you what I've chosen.

Paul & Joe Beauté Spring 2021 Collection

(Features press samples - see disclaimer)

In a blur of shimmer, floral prints and oh so pretty bows, Paul & Joe present their Spring 2021 collection and it is a feast for eyes. The collection promises to transport you to a sunny park upon the bank of the Seine to spend a beautiful afternoon enjoying the sunshine and a picnic with their gorgeous colourways and French glamour.

It's dreamy and just what you'd expect from Paul & Joe Beauty which was launched by Sophie Mechaly in 2002, following the success of her fashion line by the same name. The limited edition collection features three eye colour sets and three gel blushes - each as joyful as the next.

8 Things to look forward to this Spring

Ah Spring... it's almost time for nature to awaken around us again as the first buds of cherry blossom appear, the sun starts to show its face again and the evenings get lighter and I for one cannot wait.

I have found winter exceptionally hard this year - I've mentioned before how I suffer from a touch of S.A.D but that paired with constant grey skies and lockdown for what feels like months again really knocked me down. I feel like I am coming out the other side at the moment and as we've been blessed with a few days of sunshine and blue skies, I'm getting more and more excited about spring.

In the spirit of celebrating the little things, I've put together eight things to look forward to this spring, regardless of the country still slowly opening back up again - if we've learnt anything this year, it's that the most special moments really are the little things in life.

Five Happy Things

The last year has taught us a lot - for us especially it was to value the small things, make memories where we can and make the most of family and friends. Happy moments don't have to be a huge, momentous thing, they can be just about anything be it a chocolate bar you treated yourself to or a long walk listening to an audiobook.

I've really been trying to do this myself recently and so in the spirit of just that I wanted to share five happy things that have really made all the difference for us as we started 2021.

The ARK Skincare Body Range & Why You Should Try It

(Features press samples & affiliate links - see disclaimer)

When it comes to skincare, I find the body often gets forgotten - there's so much talk about what we're putting on our faces but when it comes to our bodies no one seems to recommend much so when ARK Skincare dropped in my inbox with details of their Body Beautiful collections my ears pricked up.

The ARK Skincare range is a small collection of indulgent body products formulated for the body and mind, created with innovative formulas and natural ingredients for beautiful, healthy skin. As with all of ARK's products, they are made in Britain as well as being cruelty-free and vegan.

The collection isn't huge but I did want to put a spotlight on two of those products that I've been using myself in recent weeks.

I imagine most of you are familiar with Dr.PAWPAW - it's a brand I've been using since 2015 and I always have at least one of the balms on the go, they're one of my favourite multi-use products.

The original balm is my personal favourite followed closely by the rich mocha balm but today I'm going to tell you all about the NEW Overnight Lip Mask which is available now.

NEW REN Clean Skincare // Brightening Dark Circle Eye Cream

(Features press sample & affiliate links - see disclaimer)

Clean Skincare is at the heart of what REN do meaning incredible products created with sustainable ingredients from sustainable sources every time plus they're sustainably packaged too. I've used a number of their products over the years and regularly pin the Evercalm and Radiance collections as my all-time favourites so imagine my delight when their all-new eye cream landed in my skincare loving hands.

When I first spied that oh so familiar orange packaging I knew the eye cream was going to be bumped up to the daily routine - the REN Radiance range is my go-to with the Evercalm range right behind it so with claims of brightening, dark circle reducing powers it was almost as though this little baby was made for me.

How to Make the Perfect Valentine's Brunch Charcuterie

Charcuterie boards have kinda blown up a bit the last few years and with good reason - they're delicious!

I worked with a brand and created one for a Christmas campaign and recently did the same again but with a sweet twist so with Valentine's Day on the horizon, I thought I'd throw some photos together and talk you through making the perfect charcuterie for Valentine's Brunch.

If you're unaware of what it is, Charcuterie is a French term for a branch of cooking devoted to prepared meat products, such as bacon, ham, sausage, terrines, galantines, ballotines, pâtés, and confit, primarily from pork but over the years they've been adapted to suit so many more tastes - to be honest, you can create any Charcuterie you fancy including something sweet like I've done here. They make such a great centrepiece for any party spread whatever the occasion

So do you want to know how to create your own? It's super easy!

A Box of Sunshine by L'Occitane

(Features press samples - see disclaimer)

On a relatively grey day in January, L'Occitane brightened my spirits when A Box of Sunshine landed on my doorstep. For 2021, the PANTONE Colours of the Year for 2021 are PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray and PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating, two colours that best express the current times - a dependable grey and a vibrant yellow. They say the two colours are a union of strength and positivity, a story of colour that encapsulates deeper feelings of thoughtfulness with the promise of something sunny and friendly - something we need right now.

We need to feel that everything is going to get brighter, something essential to the human spirit.

So how does L'Occitane come into this? Well... PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating is very similar to L'Occitane's burst of yellow and what better way to celebrate than with some of their most loved yellow products.

4 Super Easy Eco Beauty Swaps

(Features press samples - see disclaimer)

Finding eco and sustainable options seems to be all I research at the moment. Becoming a mum has changed a lot for me, especially how I see my impact on the earth my son is growing up on. We've all seen the documentaries and the warnings, it should be enough to put the frighteners on anyone and so I've spent most of this year swapping everyday items for those that are more friendly to our planet and of course reusable.

One of the very first switches I made was to a menstrual cup, partly because of my use of sanitary towels and tampons but also because I hadn't found anything comfortable since having a baby. I then bought myself a reusable coffee cup with Arran replacing my rubbish leaky one with a KeepCup and then I binned off face wipes completely in favour of flannels and muslin cloths.

The last few years have seen lots of swaps for us as a family and so I wanted to show you four super easy eco-beauty swaps I've made over the last few months, that you can do to!

A Look at Typology Skincare's Tinted Serums

(Features press samples - see disclaimer)

Typology burst on to the scene last year and well and truly made their mark on me. They're the ideal starting point for anyone that wants a more effective and targeted skincare routine while still being exceptionally conscious to the world around you too.

Created by Ning Li, the founder of, Typology is completely clean, genderless and 100% digital. The Paris-based skincare brand was founded with a mission to promote critical thinking in the personal care arena, intending to break the rules and demystify the complex industry. It's completely stripped back to basics in terms of ingredients and packaging allowing them to design and produce concentrated, natural products that are active, effective and sustainable without a bit of faff in sight.

It's completely refreshing and I've been completely blown away.

Having tried a number of their products which you can view in my Introducing Typology Skincare post since they launched in the UK - I've since had another of their products to try out, Tinted Serum!

My Favourite Books of 2020

Reading has always been one of my favourite hobbies for as long as I can remember. My mum always used to take my sister and I to the library to pick out new books and that love grew over the years. There have been occasions where I've lost my love of it and haven't read for years and then I'll find my passion again, tearing through page upon page.

It's also the one thing that really keeps my mental health in check and I love nothing more than curling up in a corner and reading something new. At the beginning of 2019 after a pretty horrendous 2018, I downloaded Goodreads and set myself a challenge to read 25 books and my love for reading flourished from there again.

2020 was obviously the year of staying at home which in turn helped me achieve my 2020 Goodreads challenge of 75 and read a total of 100 books by the end of the year. I've rounded up eight titles from that 100 that really stuck out to me as my favourites and I hope you pick them up and love them too!

2020... You weren't so bad

You've probably read the title of this post and thought what is she on but hear me out...

2020 will be known for a lot of things - a global pandemic, horrific loss of life, the year we all ran out of toilet roll apart from a few selfish souls and the one where we stayed at home. Over the last few weeks while I've taken a much-needed break with my family I've been reflecting a lot on this year and the positives it gave to us because unbelievably there were some.

This time in 2019 we had just wrapped up Christmas and New Year and ya know what? I was exhausted. The lead up to December saw me at numerous events, reviewing shows and Christmas menus as well as creating my Christmas content and by the time the big day actually rolled around I was tired and full of a cold. My much-needed break over the festive period was just a few days long before I was back at my desk writing, creating and doing my tax return.

This year, however, has given me the beauty of time, something I didn't appreciate until this year...
