The All NEW Solid Shampoo Bars from L'Occitane

(Features press samples & affiliate links - see disclaimer)

I've dabbled in shampoo bars over the last six years and now more and more brands have released their own, most recently L'Occitane. I'm a die-hard fan of the French skincare brand and use a lot of their products in my day-to-day life so I was really excited to see their own take on shampoo bars for the first time.

Having already been awarded Best Sustainable Hair Care Brand in the 2021 Woman & Home Awards and been eco-approved, the collection of three shampoo bars have been whizzing in and out of stock all month.

Created with your hair and the planet in mind, the shampoo bars are made with 98% readily biodegradable ingredients, are entirely plastic-free and their packaging is from 100% recycled and recyclable paper making it the perfect sustainable option when caring for the environment.

They've received really impressive results so far with 94% of women tested finding their scalp felt more comfortable, 90% found their hair felt just as beautiful as it would with liquid shampoo and 97% said they felt that their scalp's natural balance was respected.

I've used various shampoo bars over the years - some worked beautifully, others were really disappointing but I have to say these little pastel beauties from L'Occitane are right up there with some of the best - they lather really well, they leave my hair feeling light, clean and shiny and the subtle scent isn't too overpowering. The Purifying Freshness Shampoo Bar is definitely my favourite out of the three but each is just as good as the next.

If you're looking for something for daily use then the Gentle & Balance Solid shampoo is ideal for you. Enriched with essential oils of Lemon, Orange, Rosemary, Chamomile, and PDO Lavender - its light, fluid texture offers a unique sensorial experience, while the exquisite fragrance awakens the senses.

This pastel pink bar is ideal for dry, brittle, and damaged hair as it helps to revitalise, strengthen and protect the hair from heat styling and chemical damage. Its gentle silicone and sulphate free formula combines oat amino acid, to repair, restructure and improve hair fibre condition and a patented anti-breakage complex of five essential oils (angelica, ylang-ylang, sweet orange, lavender, and geranium) with provitamin B5, and sunflower oil, to protect and give softness and suppleness to the hair.

The Purifying Freshness Solid Shampoo is ideal for normal to oily hair as it helps to deeply cleanse and purify the scalp and hair. Formulated with Peppermint from Provence and five other essential oils - Thyme, Grapefruit, Mint, Lavender & Cedar. It's such a treat to use thanks to its generous, luxurious foam and invigorating scent plus it helps limit sebum production and purify the scalp and hair.

The solid shampoo bars contain effective plant-derived ingredients; cultivated with care for the environment and are then encapsulated in one sustainable and sensorial shampoo that can be used up to 20 washes. They each create a luxurious foam once paired with water that delicately cleanses and washes away dirt, grime, pollution and excess oils while still protecting and maintaining the scalp's natural balance.

Plus they're free from silicones and sulfates and formulated with a prebiotic natural sugar complex, it respects and maintains scalp ecosystem and PH while strengthening skin natural defenses.

After wash, hair is left shiny, supple, soft, and delicately fragranced - brilliant eh?

Available now via the L'Occitane website, there's never been a better time to try a more sustainable hair washing solution!

  6. My main concern with shampoo bars is how they'll affect my scalp as it tends to be quite sensitive but after reading this, I think I'll give these a whirl!

  11. This sounds like such a good idea for easy everyday hair care. I've never thought to use one as I have very thick hair (that I very recently had 16 inches cut off -- yikes). I think I will give it a try!

  15. I've not actually met a shampoo bar yet that I've gotten on with, it's sad! I've tried quite a few over the years, and will continue to keep searching, however I don't know what it is about my hair, but whenever I use them I loose all of the sleekness. It becomes frizzy, static and unmanageable for at least a couple of days. That being said, I haven't met a Loccitane that I didn't get on with so maybe I should give these a go.
