Docks Coffee House Southampton

The port city of Southampton has come alive the last six months and rightly so, it's about time Southampton was put back on the map for the right reasons. For most of this year I've been sharing my experiences in a number of the new restaurants in the city centre but my one true love is coffee and with The Docks opening in one of my favourite areas, it was only right my sister and I went on a little lunch date to check it out.

Emily and I found The Docks after my slight misdirection, never trust an Instagram map guys! With seating outside, it would've been the perfect lunch had it been sunny but with fog descending and a chill in the air, we ventured inside for something warm.

We sat in prime people-watching location on the tall bar in the window before being welcomed by the lovely owner, Dishi. Having seen their homemade sausage rolls on their Instagram earlier that day, I ordered one with a coffee, while Emily tried a bacon and egg roll with a pot of tea. The menu is full of fresh and locally sourced delights as well as a counter full of homemade cakes. A coffee house was definitely needed in Oxford Street and I can see it becoming a much-loved place to visit.

As well as a warming atmosphere and great food, the decor is fab too. From the knot tie lights and wooden tables and chairs to the beautiful traditional atlas wall, I spent a lot of time looking around and pointing things out to Emily, The Docks definitely keeps in tone with its sea-themed name.

If you're in Southampton and looking for somewhere family run with fresh, homemade food and an inviting atmosphere, make sure you pay The Docks a visit. I can't wait to see this adorable little coffee house full of laughter with everyone enjoying cake.
