5 Bikini Styles that'll give you a confident flare this Summer

This is a paid partnership with Protest - see disclaimer

With Spring fast approaching and the promise of warmer weather, deciding what to wear when you hit the beach can sometimes strike fear in the hearts of many, myself including. Since having a child - my shape has changed so what suits me and makes me feel most comfortable has also changed.

Protest has recently launched their Spring/Summer range for 2020 so I wanted to share five bikini styles for every shape as well as showing you some of my favourite pieces.

We all know body categories can be super frustrating even more so when it comes to swimsuit shopping so I've broken it down and I hope you find it helpful. You can view the Protest Bikini selection online now but you're going to want everything, I found it so hard deciding what to order!

Push up bikinis are designed to shape, lift and enhance - they're the affordable boost for your bust minus the surgery and when it comes to swimwear, they're the perfect way to keep everything in place. The great thing about them is that they help smaller and larger chested people to feel comfortable and look great.

My top pick from Protest is the MM Goa Push Up Bikini Top, it's part of the mix & match series and all-over printed design ties at the neck and back giving comfortable support. The wrap detailing across the chest also helps to support you. It's a great option if you're looking for a subtle boost.

I'm a hardened fan of Tankinis, it's what I always wore in my early teens and since have a baby, it's my preference for hiding my mum tum too. A tankini combines the freedom of movement of a bikini with the discretion of a swimsuit so it makes the ideal swimwear for many. I also find they're great to wear if you're just chucking on a pair of shorts in the garden when it's warm and you can mix & match them.

Protest have such a great range of styles and designs that you're bound to find exactly what would suit you. The Femme tankini top features an all-over fun design with a crossed back while the Mitchy tankini top is a dotty dream with ruched detailing at the front. There's so many to choose from at Protest and if you're still a bit stuck, they have a really informative page on all you need to know about tankinis.

Triangle bikinis are a classic aren't they, and with so many designs and colours available you can totally understand why. Triangle bikinis are great if you want to soak up the sun (with sun protection!) as the minimal fabric and skinny straps mean every inch of your body can get a sunshine injection! Straps are always so much easier to untie on a triangle bikini so you won't need to worry about strap marks and the adjustable straps mean you'll always get your perfect fit.

Protest have such a HUGE selection of triangle bikinis that you'll want to buy on for every day of the week. My favourites include the Lovin Green bikini, Nenna bikini which is adorned with stars and the Ocean High Cut bikini with is super cute animal print.

My go-to while living in Spain in my late teens was the bandeau bikini because you just can't be risking those strap marks in the Spanish sun. I love the function of the removable straps on bandeau bikinis because you can sunbathe without them but still get the support with them while swimming. They're also fab for putting under strapless sundresses when you go from beach to bar or pool to your garden table.

If you're unsure whether a bandeau will suit you, there's a fab style guide on the website to help. Some of my favourites are Esperanza, Onemyway High Cut and the Barbara which is what I ordered as I loved the colour and cut.

If you're looking for extra support especially if you're larger chested then underwire bikinis are the way to go. Your bikini should be sized by your cup, much like how you would if you were purchasing an ordinary bra. The underwire keeps you in place while the foam padding helps to define and give shape. Protest has a brilliant pick of women's underwire bikini options so you can find the perfect piece for summer. The Radiant range is brilliant and is part of their mix and match series, I love the all-over green bikini and it would look fab paired with matching or black bottoms.

You can shop Protest new spring/summer collection online now - be prepared, you’re going to want them all!
