Looking to ditch the British skies for some more consistent weather? I have good news for you, then, because Jet2 now flies out of Bournemouth! Known as one of the country's happiest tour operators, Jet2 has added 16 sunny destinations with flights from Bournemouth (with more to come...) across Europe, the Canary Islands and the Mediterranean.
So, with the promise of blue skies, sunshine and an Aperol Spritz, we packed our bags and headed to Bournemouth Airport - our flights to Tenerife with Jet2 were only four hours, so it was the perfect five day escape from the UK.
Having not flown with Jet2 before, I wasn't sure what to expect but it was by far, my easiest airport experience. We were greeted upon arrival by the cheeriest team I've ever seen at 5am and they guided us through incredibly quickly. Jet2holidays pride themselves on the customer experience and that was exactly what we received - it started our holiday to Tenerife perfectly.
After a safety brief and two bottles of fizz, it was time to set to the skies and we had the smoothest flight. Clear blue skies, a beautiful sunrise and before long we started our decent into Tenerife ready to make our way to our hotel.
Upon leaving the airport, we were once again greeted by Jet2 staff who guided us to our coach transfer ready to drop passengers at their hotels in Tenerife. I've never experienced a package holiday with transfers before and was a little anxious but it was incredibly easy.
Having never been to Tenerife before, and the main desire for the holiday was to relax and switch off whilst we were both child free, the first thing we looked at when booking with Jet2 was adult only holidays and there are plenty of options for adults only holidays to
Tenerife with Jet2holidays.
We settled on Melia Jardines del Teide, a stunning hotel in Costa Adeje, in the South of Tenerife. First impressions were amazing - with modern facilities paired with luxury and comfort, the hotel was an architectural masterpiece. Melia provides elegant rooms, superior-quality dining spaces and state-of-the-art leisure facilities, all accompanied by stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean.
We stayed in one of their Junior Suites featuring a beautiful terrace for sunbathing or reading a book, as well as a large bedroom with two single beds convertible into a double bed, a 32” TV, and bathroom with a shower and Rituals toiletries. It was such a great space, we had lots of room and the beds were very comfortable.
Some of the highlights at Melia Jardines del Teide were:
- The restaurant options throughout the hotel, especially the Retama Lobby Bar where we were able to enjoy light nibbles and cocktails over looking the sea.
- The pool was fantastic and HUGE - it measures 700 M2! There was plenty of sunloungers, everyone was really respectful and the Grab & Go Pool Bar was great - unlimited Aperol Spritz was a huge plus.
- The free WIFI was super fast and reliable and it never dipped out.
- There was always some form of entertainment throughout the day with the evenings being filled with music, bands and singers. Jazz Night was wonderful as we sat and watched the sun go down.
- We also found out, new guests get a Gin Experience on the terrace which was a lovely surprise.
Flying back from Tenerife with Jet2 to Bouremouth Airport was just as easy and before long we were back on UK soil, just with a touch of the holiday blues.
You can view more from Jet2 Holidays via their website - I'm currently trying to decide between Palma City or Lake Garda.
