Five Happy Things // May 2022

I feel as though we've blinked and May was over, what happened?! For us, it was a super exciting month full of plans, birthdays and days out - we had a lot of fun, made lots of memories and really made the most of being able to live again.

The weather could've been better, and while we have had some sunny days it has been a lot wetter than the last couple of years; I'm desperate to set up the bigger paddling pool in the garden and have a few fun days with the little ones.

I'll be praying for sunshine and blue skies for June but in the meantime let's take a little look back on last month.

We finally saw The Killers
After two years of postponements after we booked the tickets in 2019, we finally saw The Killers as they played at St. Mary's Stadium in Southampton. As a family - my parents, sister and myself have loved the band for the longest time and couldn't wait to see them live and it was all the more poignant as Mum sat with us too. There was a time last year when I didn't think the four of us would get to this moment but we did and it was fantastic. The most incredible show!

Brunch & baby dates
After two years of just being home, I've been making up all that lost time with brunch dates with friends and this time we took the bubbas too! A friend and I packed up the car and headed out to Bishops Waltham so we could swing by Hoxton Bakehouse and Josie's. The food was fab, the girls were so well behaved and adored the pancakes and we actually managed adult conversation - SCORE!

Zoo fun with the littles
Just before half term, we booked a zoo day at Marwell as they've just launched Brickosaurs for the summer again. With the weather a balmy 20 degrees and the sun shining, we worked our way around the zoo looking for tigers, sloths, rhinos and giraffes. We're only fifteen minutes away from Marwell and it's such a great place to walk around, definitely recommend it if you're Hampshire based!

Afternoon Tea at Chewton Glen
I shared a post on our visit to Chewton Glen - Experience Afternoon Tea at Chewton Glen earlier this month as we had such a fabulous time so I had to add a little snippet here too. From dreamy dining rooms and scrumptious food to the most beautiful grounds, it's the most wonderful country escape in the New Forest.

Plenty of Good Food
May has certainly been a month of good food and it was topped off with another visit to Bacaro in Ocean Village with a few friends. I'd spoken about this place a few times and we finally secured a date where we were all free and had such an enjoyable time. If you're visiting Southampton, Bacaro is the BEST place to go for a roast dinner - it never fails to disappoint.

What did you get up to in May?
