Five Happy Things // February

March is peeking around the corner even though we've only just had Christmas and I'm excited. March to me means blossom, the smell of Spring in the air and hopefully more sunny days and I cannot wait, I need that sunshine on my face.

February for us has been pretty busy as we prepared for Arran to go back to work after his paternity. He gets six months so it's been a completely different experience with much more support post-partum but trying to negotiate who works what and when has been hard. It's so frustrating trying to organise flexible working and childcare with businesses that preach about family support yet when it comes to it, is non-existent, it's been tough!

We are however still making the most of our small wins, little memories and happy moments where we can - they don't have to be a huge, momentous thing, they can be just about anything.

So here are five handpicked happy things from our February...

A little dose of normality
February seems to be the first month where our weeks looked back to normal again. After two years of lockdowns, social distancing and everything else that has come with the pandemic we've had coffee dates, meals out, socialising - it's been so lovely! It's also such a relief to be able to get out and do normal things with our youngest like I would with our first. I've missed it so much.

Dinner in the New Forest
With the world or at least England seemingly back to normal, work events and restaurant reviews are back on so I found myself near Lyndhurst in the New Forest having dinner at The Bell Inn. We had such an enjoyable evening, the food was delicious - so much more fine dining-esque than I was expecting and we couldn't fault a single thing. I can't wait to go back.

First night away
I spent my first night away from both bambinos in February and it felt SO weird! I was only gone for 24 hours, it was for a work collaboration and I went to bed at 9pm so mainly caught up on sleep and read a book but I still missed those little hands that reach out. I can't wait to share more about my stay with The Huntsman of Brockenhurst soon!

We went bowling
Ever since our son saw his favourite YouTubers go bowling he has wanted to go so we organised for my parents to have our daughter and off we went. We went mid-week and had the place to ourselves, had the best time and can't wait to take him again!

Fresh nails
With February being so drab I went with COLOUR this month on my nails! This gorgeous yellow is by The GelBottle Inc in Retro, it's definitely brightening up the days.

How have you spent October? Tell me what made you smile this month!
