A Peek Inside our Halloween Party

(Features press samples - see disclaimer)

I've always been a lover of Halloween, I have fond memories of dressing up as a ghost with a bedsheet or a witch with a broom as a child so I've always wanted to create that magic for our children too. Joshua is an October baby so he saw his first Halloween in at two weeks old while wearing a pumpkin outfit and so as the years have gone on, we've dressed up and bought spooky snacks to celebrate.

With the world as it is at the moment, I went all out this year with decorations galore and plenty of food - we had the best time so I wanted to share a peek inside out Halloween Party and give you some inspiration for next year.

The main show was the food! The last few years I've bought the majority of the party food from Marks & Spencer as they have a really great Halloween range which includes some vegetarian and vegan options too. They sent me a voucher to purchase some of the range so I came away with Ghoulish Cauliflower Bites, Ghost Chicken Bites, Bubbling Cheese Cauldron and plenty of sweet treats.

The little Frankencolins went down a treat as did the decorated chocolate muffins. The range was the biggest and best it has been so far and I can't wait to see what they come up with next year.

My vomiting pumpkin was also from M&S which I carved myself at home, the pumpkins were just 65p in store - I just added a pot of their Chunky Guac and some Salted Tortilla Chips to spruce him up.

We were spoilt with sweet treats from a couple of independent businesses in Southampton too!

Agrazing Platters are a hand-crafted luxury graze platter business and for Halloween this year they created an amazing platter FULL to the brim of Halloween themed treats! There was treacle toffee, exploding brains, popcorn, orange themed chocolates and so much more - it was so beautifully presented and made a great addition to our Halloween table.

We also had a cake box delivered The Cakery by Hannah - the cake boxes included:
  • Chocolate Popping Candy Cupcake
  • Vanilla Goo Cupcake
  • Two Monster Rice Krispie Bites
  • Two Webbed Original Brownies
  • Two Ghost Cakesicles
  • Frankenstein Marshmallows

Joshua and I also tried our hands at decorating some biscuits and creating some mummfied rice krispie bars of our very own - it was very messy, our icing was terrible but we had a lot of fun which was the most important part. All our decorations are bits I've picked up over the last three years mostly from Poundland, Flying Tiger and various supermarkets although I'll definitely be checking Homesense next year.

Our Halloween party was full of fun, laughs and a Halloween playlist so we could dance along to Thriller and Monster Mash too - I can't wait for next years Halloween.

I might even have to dress up properly for it!

How did you spend Halloween?
