Baby Spake is Four Months Old

My little squidge is four months old. I can hardly believe I'm typing those words let alone that he's laid on the floor next to me grabbing at his feet and screeching like a banshee. It has been the most incredible and emotional experience, I still can't believe he's all mine, well and Arran's but mostly mine, shh we won't tell him. Joshua is a little dreamboat, he is the most inquisitive, loveliest little person and I just can't get enough of him.

The last few weeks have been a huge learning curve, for him and us. Joshua has now been on soya milk for five weeks and we stand by our decision, it was the best thing we could've done for our son. It was as if someone had given us a new baby, Joshua is fed, happy and is just as a baby should be now. Aside from the old potato smell, we have absolutely zero complaints. The only issue we have now is to determine what the suspected allergy actually is but right now, we're the happiest little pod when it comes to feeding time. So much so that we've started talking weaning, the highchair has arrived and we're more excited about baby rice and porridge than he is right now. Oh and rusks, I've been waiting patiently for rusks.

This week also saw Joshua have his 16 week jabs and teething has well and truly entered our lives. Arran has nearly lost a finger twice and poor little bubs has the faintest speck of tooth starting to show its point already! Dentinox teething gel is our best friend as is a frozen muslin for him to chew on. Some days are harder than others but seeing as I'm sat writing this at 3am you can gather what kinda night we've had. All the hours of frustrated crying and broken sleep are forgotten once Joshua giggles or smiles though, he has us wrapped around his little finger, he just doesn't quite know it yet.

We've just finished our first six week course of Daisy Tinies. The class features baby massage, baby yoga and baby reflexology alongside songs and rhythmic movement. It's really helped me when trying to relieve Joshua's trapped wind and it has taken me out of my comfort zone so I've just signed us up for another six week course as he's just that little bit too small to graduate to the next level.

The last month has just really seen Joshua grow, he doesn't scream while having tummy time now and he holds his head up while peering around like a Meerkat. He is also still rolling side to side and changing his nappy is starting to become more difficult because everything around him is so interesting. He also loves wrapping his tiny little fist in my hair and showing me his tongue. Oh and his new noise is screaming like a banshee, it is such a high pitched screech I'm surprised my neighbours haven't knocked the door.

Joshua is putting anything and everything in his mouth at the moment including my face if he gets a chance, he's like a little octopus. He's become more interested in his toys, his Spectrum Collections makeup brush and splashing in the bath. He has also just gone into 3-6 month clothes which breaks my heart a little as I had to go through and pack up all his newborn and 0-3 month clothes. The time has gone so quickly and I was not prepared. He'll be towering over me before I know it.

It's been so lovely watching him learn, grow and become this amazing little person and as much as I get a little sad that he is no longer my newborn baby boy, I can't wait to see what comes next.

  9. I've been watching him so closely; I'm so scared of how fragile newborns are but it seems they turn into chunky little babies too quickly. He looks so grown up and handsome x
