Inside our Engagement Party

We celebrated our engagement with all our nearest and dearest on 30th July 2016 at Mettricks Old Town in Southampton. We spend a lot of our time there and as it's in the same area we are looking at getting married in, it couldn't be any more suited. Read on for more details and photos...

We spent the evening catching up with friends and family while eating delicious food and sharing prosecco. Mettricks Old Town has a beautiful layout, very warm with mismatched furniture and artwork along the walls so we had decided from the start, the decorations would have a very rustic feel. Neil, Andy and the Old Town team did a fabulous job all evening!

Arran and I both wore navy as that is one of the main colours we've chosen for our wedding and meant we could give all our guests a sneak peek. You might've seen on Twitter my 'mare with Chi Chi London over my original dress (I will never order from them again!) and I was so grateful to Topshop Southampton for all their help in tracking down the dress I did wear.

Hello Party provided all of the bespoke bunting, a company I've used before. They created exactly what we wanted with the bunting saying Engaged, Future Mr & Mrs, Alice & Arran Get Engaged and He Asked & She Said Yes. I would recommend using them for any occasion. I ordered all the polaroids from Cheerz which again is a company I always use, while Propercorn provided the popcorn for the wedding favours. The floral LOVE sign was sent by Prezzybox and is from Sass & Belle which is one of my favourite shops in Brighton. It's being tucked away to use for the wedding too.

All the DIY Rustic Blackboards were from Poundland while all the yarn, pom poms, chalk pens and pegs were from Hobby Craft. I loved sitting and creating everything and seeing it all come together perfectly on the evening. We also placed two photos of both my late Grandfathers in frames with a candle which was lit throughout the evening. You can also read how I upcycled my late Grandfathers Naval case which is how we collected any cards given to us on the evening in my Upcycled Suitcase for Cards post.

The whole evening was perfect and we couldn't have wished for anything more. The weather was gorgeous which meant we could sit outside in the setting sun and our photos taken by the wonderful Rachel all had a splash of sunlight on them. As we're not getting married for a couple of years the wedding posts will probably be a little sparse now but I really hope you've enjoyed what I've shared so far as much as I've enjoyed writing them.
